One event is the talk of the town or say the whole world is the ‘Howdy Modi’ event that was held in NSG stadium at Houston, Texas in America. The event was a witness to a powerhouse gathering of two most powerful and influential leaders of the two most significant and largest democratic countries, India and the United States of America. It is considered to be a historic event for both India and America. The whole event was organized to welcome and honor the Prime minister of India Narendra Modi by US President Donald Trump.

The event became a focusing point of the world as it was organized on the grandest stage. Prime Minister Modi received a rousing welcome in the United States, and the stadium had an attendance of 50,000 Indian-origin American residents, the largest gathering ever for welcoming and commemorating the visit of any Indian Prime Minister. The occasion was as epic as it was promoted and the people lauded the Indian Prime Minister on arrival. The cowboy state of Texas was looming in the color of Indian tricolor as Narendra Modi made an enchanting arrival along with Donald Trump.

This grand stage also gave a significant platform for strengthening the Indo-US ties, which was also an agenda of the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to America. Apart from the members of the Trump administration from the White House, over 60 lawmakers from the US also attended this gala event. Indian Prime Minister used this grand stage not only to address the American-Indians of the United States but also raise some core issues like global and cross-border terrorism, scarping of article 370 from Kashmir, accelerating economic and defense ties between India and America, and drawing the attention of the world over climate change. The event also marked the attendance of several business and community leaders from all parts of America.

Both leaders lauded each other’s effort for carrying forward and improving the bilateral relationship between the two countries. However, apart from commemorating the Indian Prime Minister’s visit and improving the ties between the two countries, this event has its own political meaning too that you have to make out within the lines.

Presidential election will be held next year in 2020 in the United States and people again will be voting again for choosing their next president. The US has a good amount of Asian origin population, and Indians are particularly the dominant one. President Donald Trump is out to woo this large vote bank towards his side by encashing on the popularity of Narendra Modi. The Democrats are hoping that taking the Indian Prime Minister along with them will surely send a positive sign among the Indian-American community and get their support as well.

India is emerging as one of the prominent power in Asia and the Indian sub-continent ever since the NDA government came into power. America is already advancing its military tie-up with India and signed significant military deals with the Indian government as well. Being in good terms with the Indian government will ensure that the line of defense and economic deals remain clear and open. Strategically, strong military ties with India will also allow the United States to solidify its presence in Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. It will allow them to keep a vigilant watch on the activities of China, Pakistan, and North Korea.

With the growing dominance of the Indian military in recent years, the defense ties with Indian government can prove to be very useful and fruitful for the United States. The strong and good relationship with current Narendra Modi government will also help the democrats to register a win in the next presidential election. For India, strong ties with the US will boost its dominance in Asia and Indian subcontinent and shall have the upper hand in dealing with its unfriendly neighbors as well as terrorist activities.
